This document will show you how to generate an API token for the Backup Projects for Jira

Step 1

  • An API token will be generated for you as shown below, click on “copy” to copy the API token.

Step 2

  • After copying the API token from Step 1 above then navigate back to the Backup Projects for Jira API configuration page and paste the API token as shown below

  • Your final setup should look like the below before submitting the form

Note:

  • That’s all you need to do, the API token will be validated against your account given that you simultaneously have added an email address to the configuration. Then you should see the token status change to “green” indicating that the account is now able to schedule tasks

  • Why do we need an API token → We require a personal token to backup and extract projects in CSV format. This resource of the Atlassian API is only permitted based on a user’s token. This also ensures that projects that are being extracted via JQL are only permitted to those users who already have access to it.
