F.A.Qs

These are some of the frequently asked questions

Q. I tried to delete a user but I am seeing 400 errors on the audit log page.

  • If the user account has been disabled from the organization level. This means that the user cannot be removed hence a 400 error.

  • Subsequently, Atlassian API for deleting a user is experimental and thus based on the current behaviour requires a user to be completely deleted such a user must not be collaborating on any open issues.

Q. I deleted the users with the app and it shows success in the audit log but when I navigate to the admin’s page I still see these users.

  • The BulkOps Pro for Jira works only on a site level and not on an organisational level. Therefore when you delete a user, check the user's directory of the site and not the managed account section of your admin hub as both refer to a different user base.

Q. When adding or removing users to/from a group, I get a 400 error or some failure.

  • This will happen if the user that you’ve attempted to add already exists in the group or the user you attempted to remove has been already removed from the group.

Q. The API key does not work

  • Please ensure that you're generating your token from this link on API Token. Once you do that, the token button should show as active if it's valid.

  • My API token says it's "active" but I cannot perform any bulk action. I keep getting 401 status. That happens because for you to use the BulkOps Pro for Jira effectively, you have to be a site-admin or Jira administrator of your Jira instance. The former is the better option, so you can access all the features and bulk operation capabilities provided by the app.

  • As a final note, make sure that the email address that you registered with has the site-admin privilege and that the API token you're generating is for that particular email address and not for another account. Some users make the assumption and generate an API token for a different email account and use it and thus see that the token is inactive.

  • Ensure that you are generating an API token for the email account that you are currently logged in with for the BulkOps Pro for Jira account.

Q. Where can I get the correct format for bulk deleting users

Q. I clicked the “Click to log in” button and nothing happens

  • Most probably, you do not have cookies enabled on your browser. So we cannot authenticate you into the app. See Why we need cookies

Q. How can I delete JSM customer users

  • Please ensure that you have a JSM application running on your Jira instance

  • Then visit this documentation on How to bulk delete users

Q. Can I use this app to delete Confluence users

  • Yes, you can. The only requirement is that you have a Jira installation (free - if less than 10 users) present on your instance. Even though this app isn’t available for Confluence but it is able to help manage users and groups in Confluence. This is because Atlassian apps use a central user management platform. This makes it possible to access those resources to perform the same user management task.

Q. I cannot log in to the app again, gives 500 internal server error

  • Ensure that anytime you need to log into the BulkOps Pro you do that from within your Jira environment (log-in is only possible within Jira context). Do not attempt to access the app by using its direct URL. You must access the app within your Jira Cloud environment.
